Add BuildBase to Lovable's instructions or skills
Give Lovable the BuildBase rules once, as project instructions, an AGENTS.md file or a workspace skill imported from GitHub, so every prompt starts from them.
Lovable can also connect to BuildBase itself while it builds: Use BuildBase in Lovable.
A prompt tells Lovable what to build once. Instructions and skills tell it every time, so a later request does not add a second sign-in or a plan table next to BuildBase. Lovable reads three places, and you need one of them. What each takes is from Lovable's own docs, read on 5 November 2026.
Project instructions: the docs skill
Open Project settings > Instructions and paste the text of docs.buildbase.app/SKILL.md. It is the short integration skill this site serves: the rules for when to use @buildbase/sdk, the five-line position rule and where to read next. It fits under Lovable's limit of 10,000 characters for project instructions, with room for your own notes.
Anyone who can edit the project can change its instructions. Workspace instructions, under the same 10,000 characters, apply to every project in a workspace; use them only if every project there uses BuildBase.
AGENTS.md in the project
Lovable's docs say it reads an AGENTS.md at the top level of a project with every message. Ask Lovable to create one with the same text, or add it through GitHub sync. On paid plans Lovable may rewrite a rule in AGENTS.md that no longer matches your code, unless you asked for that rule, so name the rule in the request.
The full skill, imported from GitHub
The full integration skill, with its knowledge files for workspaces, billing, credits, webhooks and the HTTP API, is in the public buildbase-app/claude-skill repository. Its SKILL.md is not at the repository root, so import it by folder: in Workspace settings > Skills > Add > Import from GitHub, paste
https://github.com/buildbase-app/claude-skill/tree/main/plugins/buildbaseLovable takes a SKILL.md of up to 100,000 characters and bundled files of up to 1 MB each, which this folder fits. Only a workspace owner or admin can import a skill. We have not run this import in Lovable ourselves; if it fails, use project instructions instead.
Note
A shorter builder edition of the skill, under 10,000 characters and usable as
instructions, an AGENTS.md block or a skill, is planned and not published
yet.
